Making Christmas Bright For A Local Family!
Lynn and Elizabeth bring in gifts to be wrapped!
At Corporate Business Solutions, we’re, once again, participating in the Salvation Army’s ‘Adopt A Family’ program. Elizabeth, first, contacted our Salvation Army, asking to adopt the neediest family that they had available. She then publicized the family’s ‘wish list’ via an email blast, asking for people to give funds or bring items for this family in lieu of exchanging gifts with their coworkers. She also recruited shopping volunteers to take advantage of up-coming ‘Black Friday’ sales.
Just a few of the gifts for our adopted family!
Tonia balances a stack of American Girl outfits and accessories!
Our family has three children, a boy, age 11, and two girls, age 9 and 6. We picked up winter coats, boots, hats and gloves as well as clothing such as school uniforms that had been requested to fulfill the ‘needs.’ For fulfilling the ‘wants,’ there were noise cancelling headphones, trading cards, R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps books, American doll clothing, books and flashcards for a beginning reader (the youngest girl), board games, and other toys!
Renee’s desk became one of our wrapping stations!
A television and a collection of family movie DVDs were among some fun ‘extra’ gifts. In addition, we learned that our family was short two beds for their children and we arranged to have two new twin beds, box springs and mattresses delivered to the family home (Christmas gifts included new bedding, pillows, and comforters for each child). We were also pleased to give the parents a $200 gift card for Wal-Mart, so that they could purchase a holiday meal. Just in case that they did not have one, we also bought an artificial Christmas tree along with ornaments.
All the gifts were wrapped and labeled (from Santa). Lastly, everything was loaded into our company’s maintenance van to be delivered to the Salvation Army’s distribution center. We’re excited that we’ve provided everything needed to create a festive holiday celebration for our adopted family!
