CBS Reviews: To Thrive, Not Just Survive
Situation
“We knew that we were surviving, but not thriving.”
A construction contractor, specializing in building cell phone towers for all major carriers, hired Corporate Business Solutions because, although, they were making money; in the end, year after year, they were not showing a profit.
“We wanted to learn how to better understand our business and grow. One of our goals was to comprehend the financial portion of ‘doing business’ with respect to knowing our bottom line, QuickBooks and how to bid accurately in order to ensure that we were profitable. Another focus that we had was employee morale and establishing an incentive program to help obtain the best from our employees.
We were unsure of how to put these processes in place, our follow-through was poor, management lacked respect from our employees and we were not growing.”
Process
“After the consultants arrived, processes started to make sense. An understanding of what we had to do, and what we had to stop doing, helped us to see where this company could be in the future. Business practices that were never in place, like job descriptions, are now available so that every employee knows what their job entails. The management team now has the tools to ‘manage’ employees with proper review forms and timelines, in which, to complete the reviews. We now have ways to measure and reward employees for the excess profits that they generate with their hard work.”
Result
“This company was built with little to no management experience, just field experience. The basic functions of running a business for years to come were never implemented. We now feel that we have the needed tools to learn and grow into a successful business.
Thank you for everything!
As tough as it was to bite the bullet on cost, when times were so rough financially for us, we are very pleased that we made this decision and we could not be more grateful for the two consultants that CBS sent us. They truly became part of our business and they went down every road that we gave them, right by our side.” Jim and Christine, Owners.
